Wild Birds, zcela nový počin Franka Borghstijna, je vysoce kvalitní windsurf film, který by neměl chybět v „knihovně“ žádného surfaře.
Vydaný pod nálepkou „windsurfingový dokument“, zachycuje film Wild Birds poslední natočenou akci na Maui, v Bonaire, západní Austrálii a Evropě.
Na DVD se přesunujete z jednoho místa na druhé, aniž by film ztrácel náboj a vizuální atraktivitu. Video je nabušené skvělou hudbou a doprovází jej občasný komentář Robbyho Naishe a Petera Volwatera. Vlastně skvělý archivní kousek na začátku filmu představí Robbyho na závodě v Zaandvortu v Holandsku, kde si jede v opravdu drsných vlnách ve slalomu pro vítězství.
Peter komentuje tento segment a zmiňuje svou zkušenost a vzpomínky z dětství, kdy stál na břehu a mrznul a obdivoval umění Robbyho v tak náročných podmínkách. Tato zkušenost byla zlomovým bodem, kdy se Peter jednoznačně rozhodl pro dráhu pro windsurfera. PWA a Robby ho jednoznačně dostali.
Ve filmu se okamžitě přesunete střihem na Havaj do současnosti, kde si v dokonalých vlnách dávají neskutečný waveride právě Robby a Peter. Segment nyní komentuje sám Robby. Popisuje Peterův styl a jeho cestu a vývoj během let na tour.
Komentáře dodávají filmu jedinečnost a opravdovou unikátnost. Je to jistě něco, co v současných filmech chybělo.
Robby, jeden z prvních pro riderů na PWA tour, začal závodit už jako dítě ve velmi mladém věku. Je proto skvělé, že právě on komentuje a představuje nové talenty současnosti jako je Jurgen Saragoza nebo Kiri Thode.
Je bez pochyb, že si Robby windsurfing stále užívá, a že ho jedině těší nově příchozí talenti na scéně.
Kauli Seadi, jeden z nejlepších wave, freestyle a indoor jezdců, komentuje právě indoor závody.
Střih, hudba, celkový dojem tohoto filmu jsou asi to nejlepší, co jsem měl za poslednudí dobu k vidění na DVD. Tradiční hardcore muzika, která se obvykle cpe k akčním videím, je nahrazena hodně zajímavou namixovanou hudbou, která perfektně sedí všem segmentům.
Indoor segment je prostě skvěle zpracovaný, vymyšlený a sestříhaný. Prostě paráda! Double loopy, pushloopy a ty nejnovější freestyle hrůzy, spolu s nadšenými diváky v ochozech, zanechávají jedinečný pocit.
Celkově film mohu jedině doporučit, segmenty nejlepších riderů světa na Maui, Bonaire, západní Austrálii a Evropě v kombinaci se skvělou muzikou a výborným střihem jsou zkrátka top quality!
