O nově vznikajícím filmu dvojice amerických filmařů Darcy Wittenburga a Jamie Houssiana jsme Vás již informovali loni na podzim. Nyní je už The Collective nějakou dobu na světě a proto je na čase, abychom se podívali, jestli se superlativy, kterými nás jeho tvůrci zahrnovali ukázaly jako pravdivé a jestli jde opravdu o natolik přelomový projekt jak nám tvrdili. 16mm: První, co je na The Collective jiné než na všech bikových filmech, které byly dosud natočeny je prozrazeno už v podtitulu „A 16mm mountainbike film.“ Pro ty nezasvěcené – ostatní filmy byly většinou točeny na digitální kamery kde se může jeden záběr donekonečna opakovat, protože to nic nestojí, ale tohle pohodlí je vykoupeno o poznání horším obrazem – především co se týče barev a zpomalených záběrů, protože digi kamery ještě zdaleka nezvládají udělat tolik políček za sekundu jako 16mm kamery. Práce na 16mm film je také jiná právě v tom, že každý záběr spolkne nějaký ten kus filmu, který není zadarmo a proto se všechno musí dopředu pečlivě připravit, vybrat kompozici, počkat na světlo atd... A to je podle mě v Collective hodně znát – každý záběr je vypiplaný do posledního detailu, nic nevypadá jako by to bylo natočené jen tak od boku a působí opravdu solidním dojmem – a to například i u záběrů, kdy je kamera přimontovaná na helmě jezdce, protože i ty (jak je vidět z bonusů) jsou pořízeny 16mm kamerou, která je o dost větší než digitální, takže jezdec má na hlavě konstrukci skoro stejně velkou jako jeho kolo… Riders: Další o čem se hodně mluvilo v souvislosti s The Collective bylo, že půjde o první „pure freeriding film“ – pokud jste si zvykli vídat ve videích nekonečné sestřihy z DH poháru se Stevem Peatem, tak zde nic takového nečekejte. Ti, kteří se Vám zde představí jsou opravdu čistokrevní freeriders a jediné, co se možná trochu vymyká je streetová sekce Ryana Leeche, která ale pro oživení není vůbec na škodu zvlášť, když vezmeme v úvahu kousky, které se v ní objevují. Kromě něj se zde tedy představí Darren Barrecloth, Andrew Shandro, Dave Watson, Thomas Vanderham, Tyler Klassen, Jordie Lunn, Wade Simmons, Matt Hunter, Steve Romaniuk a další. Místa: Výběr míst byl pro filmaře jednou z nejdůležitějších věcí. Točilo se výhradně v esteticky zajímavých lokalitách, nic jiného nepřicházelo v úvahu…Utah, Britisch Columbia, Portland, Whistler, na Red Bull Rampage v Utahu, kdesi v deštném pralese a naprosto nepřekonatelné jsou záběry z oblasti Maui na Hawaii, kde zelená tráva kontrastuje se zamračeným nebem, kterým prosvítá slunce…těžko říct jestli na takové scenérie museli čekat několik dní nebo jestli to tam tak vypadá pořád. Akce: Nečekejte doublebackflip nebo drop z 20ti metrů – z tohoto pohledu v Collective nic převratného není, ale to neznamená že by to začala být po 5ti minutách nuda… Samozřejmostí jsou obrovské dropy – někdy i třeba bez rukou nebo bez nohou, dlouhé transfery, vysoké wallridy, lávky…to vše jste už asi někde viděli, ale kouzlo tohoto filmu je v tom, že všechny tyhle triky jsou zasazeny do nového prostředí a natočeny novým, neotřelým pohledem – třeba záběr Thomase Vanderhama který se rozjíždí na wallride kdesi v Utahu a až do chvíle než vyjede na wall je snímán pouze jeho stín…Dokonce i záběry, kde jezdec „jenom“ jede z kopce nejsou nuda, tak jako se to stává ve spoustě jiných filmů. Úplný vrchol jsou záběry z lávek, zakončených dropem, které jsou filmovány seshora tak, že kamera celou dobu jede nad hlavou jezdce nebo obrovské množství záběrů z vrtulníku…Když je potom v bonusech ukázáno, jak celé tohle filmování probíhalo, tak myslím, že si u toho pánové docela dost užili... Hudba: Hudba je další povedenou věcí v tomhle videu. Její výběr je opravdu pestrý, od downtempo rytmů po našláplé kytarovky. Nevím, jestli Vám něco řeknou jména jako Terry Oldfield, Slackstring Rise Against, mě sice ne, ale to vůbec nic neznamená...několik tracků dal k videu dohromady jakýsi DJ Marlin. Kdyby Vás hudba natolik nadchla, že byste si chtěli pořídit soundtrack, tak ten je k mání na stránkách thecollectivefilm.com. Hudba je samozřejmě nejen dokonale vybraná, ale je podle ní i dokonale propracovaný střih, což jenom dokazuje, že pánové si s tímhle kouskem pohráli do posledního detailu. Bonusy: Jako každé správné DVD obsahuje i toho řadu bonusů, pohledy do hotelových pokojů, kde si Super T odlupuje nehet, záběry kameramanů, kteří jezdí po kladce 5 metrů na zemí a podobě. Kromě toho ukázky fotek Sterlinga Lorence, crash section a mnoho dalšího. Závěr: Jestli se Vám zdá, že jsme zase něco přehnaně vychválili, tak je to jenom tím, že se k nám poslední dobou dostávají věci, které si tu chválu prostě zaslouží (viz minulá recenze Drop The Hammer) a doufám, že příště se nám do rukou dostane něco opravdu hrozného, co budeme moci strhat tím nejhorším způsobem...i když nevím, vypadá to, že příští recenze bude na NWD5, takže s kritikou budeme asi muset počkat až na tu přespříští...
